Psychological Assessment

All assessments are individually tailored and structured according to referral needs. One size does not fit all when it comes to assessment and the specific tests administered may vary depending on the individual, the referral question and the data that is required.

Cognitive Abilities Profile

This profile assesses overall intellectual functioning and provides a detailed breakdown of cognitive strengths and weaknesses across key domains such as verbal reasoning, visual-spatial skills, working memory, and processing speed. Standardised testing offers insight into how an individual learns, solves problems, and processes information. The results can help clarify learning needs, guide support strategies, and contribute to diagnostic assessments when exploring conditions such as giftedness, learning difficulties, ADHD, or developmental concerns.

Academic Skills Profile

This profile provides a detailed, standardised assessment of core academic abilities—reading, writing, and mathematics. Using age-normed tests, we pinpoint specific strengths and areas for growth in decoding, comprehension, spelling, written expression, calculation, and problem-solving. Results highlight how current skills align with curriculum expectations, inform targeted intervention plans, and support applications for learning supports or adjustments at school or in training settings. Importantly, the profile can clarify the presence of specific learning disorders.

Social-Emotional-Behaviour Profile

This profile explores the social, emotional, and behavioural aspects of an individual’s presentation that may influence learning, relationships, and day-to-day functioning. It typically includes standardised ratings and questionnaires completed by caregivers, educators, or the individual themselves, depending on age. Areas assessed may include emotional regulation, social skills, executive functioning, adaptive behaviours, personality traits, mental health, and character strengths. Where relevant, this profile also helps to measure the real-world impact of a diagnosed or suspected condition—supporting diagnosis, funding applications, and tailored intervention planning.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnostic Assessment

An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnostic Assessment is a thorough evaluation process used to determine whether an individual meets the formal DSM-5-TR criteria for a diagnosis of autism. The assessment involves gathering detailed information from multiple sources, including clinical interviews, behavioural observations and standardised questionnaires. It explores differences in social communication, sensory processing, and patterns of behaviour, interests, and play. The goal is to build a comprehensive understanding of the person’s strengths and challenges, support accurate diagnosis, and provide tailored recommendations for intervention, support, and planning—at home, at school, and in the community.

Functional Capacity Assessment

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive evaluation designed to determine an individual’s ability to perform everyday tasks across key areas of life. An FCA identifies strengths and areas of difficulty in domains such as communication, social interaction, self-care, learning, mobility, and independent living. The assessment helps inform support planning, NDIS funding applications, and recommendations for therapies or interventions to enhance daily functioning and quality of life.

Psychological Therapy

We offer evidence-based psychological therapy for children, adolescents, and adults to support emotional wellbeing, behavioural change, and personal growth. Therapy is tailored to the needs and goals of each individual and may draw on approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamically oriented treatment, mindfulness, and strengths-based interventions. Our carefully stocked play therapy room allows for more age-appropriate interventions to be undertaken with young children or older children who are just more comfortable in that space. Common areas of focus for therapy include anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation, self-esteem, adjustment to life changes, and coping with neurodevelopmental differences. We provide safe, respectful, and supportive spaces for clients of all ages to explore challenges and build practical strategies for everyday life.
